Limitations upon Use
This calculator is based upon a formula developed by the
Department of Transportation (DoT) in the United States, however a person's
blood-alcohol level is the result of a complex interaction of weight, gender,
alcohol consumed, and time. The same person will often register different
results for the same consumption depending upon numerous factors including meals
eaten and type of alcohol drunk. This calculator can only give
a very rough
guide and actual results on a Breathalyzer
WILL vary considerably depending upon
the individual and the circumstances of the test.
In particular the time taken to absorb the alcohol into the body can vary
dramatically and therefore the level may rise as well as fall after the last
drink is consumed.
Only a Blood Test can accurately calculate the level of alcohol in the blood at
any given time.
The calculation
assumes that one drink equals approx. 1
shot of 40% spirit, 125ml of 11% wine, or 1/2 pint 4.5% beer.
Result is given
as if tested 20 minutes after the last drink, however note that in
some people it can take up to 2 hours to reach peak levels.
Intoxication
levels can RISE as well as fall for some time after your last drink.
ANY alcohol in the
Blood WILL
impair your judgement and may be dangerous
